Allison M. (“Ally”) Grein is an Associate at the Firm and practices in the areas of intellectual property, entertainment, employment and labor law, mediation and dispute resolution, general business law and commercial transactions. She has helped safeguard and maximize clients’ domestic and international intellectual property assets, including supporting the expansion of brand platforms into Latin America, Asia, the European Union and North America through the protection, expansion and exploitation of global trademark and copyright portfolios, and has further assisted with branding, licensing and distribution agreements. In her entertainment practice, she has counseled producers and other entertainment industry personnel on all facets of the contract and production process, including work on feature and documentary films and television and digital series. Ms. Grein has also supported clients in a wide array of labor and employment matters, including investigations by federal and state agencies, advising on and negotiating employment and separation agreements and other matters.

Prior to her work with the Firm, Ms. Grein was a Legal Intern for the Nassau County District Attorney’s Treatment and Community Court, the Legal Aid Society in Queens, New York and, during law school, the Nassau County District Attorney’s Special Victims Bureau.

Ms. Grein has been a guest lecturer for Venture for America and Learning Curve and has spoken and written on a range of topics, including intellectual property, employment, entertainment and startup law at workshops and events for Internet Week, Social Media Week and the Athena Film Festival, among others. She is committed to combatting discrimination against women in her legal practice and has hosted discussion groups for young women professionals on negotiation, workplace inequities and harassment.

Ms. Grein earned her B.A. from Swarthmore College (cum laude, 2010) and her J.D. from Boston University School of Law (2013), where she received a merit scholarship and was Vice President of the Latin American Law Students Association, an active member of the Intellectual Property Law Society and a competitor in the Stone Moot Court Competition. While at Swarthmore, Ms. Grein was awarded the Helen Solomon Scholarship for academic excellence and served as Captain of the Varsity Women’s Lacrosse team. From 2007 to 2010, Ms. Grein led Swarthmore’s Chapter of the Clothesline Project, an annual event dedicated to raising awareness about the issues and realities of sexual violence. She also expanded, ran and facilitated Swarthmore’s Acquaintance Sexual Assault Prevention Workshops for incoming freshmen. The college presented her the Dean’s Award at graduation for her efforts and contributions in this area. Ms. Grein’s dedication to this cause further motivated her to run the 2016 NYC Marathon on behalf of the Joyful Heart Foundation, an organization dedicated to healing, educating and empowering survivors of sexual violence.

Ms. Grein is admitted to practice in New York and the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
